What’s so funny ’bout chocolate?

They say laughter is good for the soul. Chocolate is too. Makes sense to combine them.

This past week, chocolate was a popular topic in the funny papers.

First, Dilbert ran a couple of daily strips about the power of dark chocolate:

Then the Sunday funnies included 2 chocolate-themed comics:

Lio by Mark Tatulli

Rhymes with Orange by Hilary Price

As the saying goes, there is truth in humor. As Pointy-Haired Boss says in Dilbert, there are studies that point to chocolate making you smarter. And you can get a chocolate spa treatment in San Francisco (although you’ll have to wait for Valentine’s Day unless you want to D-I-Y like Lio).

And not all of those chocolate selections in Rhymes with Orange are as off-the-wall as you might think: Local chocolatiers Vice Chocolates and Socola Chocolatiers both offer beer-infused bonbons. Many local artisan chocolatiers make spicy hot chocolates, including Socola’s Flying Rooster truffle flavored with Sriracha sauce. And Michael Mischer offers a barbecue flavored filled chocolate during the summer.
