Back to the farm
If you thought bacon-flavored chocolate was the epitome of farm-to-table chocolate wackiness, are you ready for hay-flavored chocolate? According to the Daily Mail Online, London chocolatiers Sir Hans Sloane have created the world’s first collection of hay-flavored chocolates.
The milk chocolate will debut at London’s Chocolate Unwrapped show, Oct. 15-16, 2011 and could possibly be available commercially afterwards — depending on its reception. The article describes the process involved in making this dried-grass confection and attempts to reassure the reader that it really is delicious.
An early taste-tester describes it as having floral overtones (“like drinking jasmine tea”), but then compares the smell to his childhood rabbit hutch. I’ll take a pass on this one.
