I just received an email announcement from one of our SFBA chocolate veterans, Mindy Fong, that she is closing Jade Chocolates after 16 years in business.
They are having a closing sale, selling the last of their chocolate bars and teas. They will continue to sell bonbons and special items for a few months as they wind things down. They are planning some special events in April and May which will be good opportunities to celebrate Jade’s history and say goodbye.

You can buy Jade chocolates through their website. Mindy said you can also make an appointment to visit the shop.
In addition to their chocolates and teas they are selling the furnishings and fixtures in their Chinatown location (I assume the vintage coal chute from the street to the basement stays).
Probably the best way to stay apprised of the events and deals will be to get on their mailing list — which you can do at the bottom of each page on the Jade website.
We are sorry to see Jade close — we liked getting to know Mindy and following her moves around San Francisco.

Her Chinatown cafe was wonderful, her bonbons were beautiful and tasty — her Thai Basil bonbon was the first savory bonbon I loved, and her tea and coffee infused bars were favs. But what panics me is: Where will I get Rice Paddies and Chocolate Pumpkin Bread?
This feels like the end of an era. But all good things must come to an end, I guess — even when they involve chocolate. We at CBTB wish Mindy all the best in her new endeavors.
