Jamaican cacao
The Oakland Chocolate Company is a chocolate maker, chocolatier, and worker-owned cooperative that includes cacao farmers in Jamaica, who provide the beans that the company processes into chocolate bars, truffles, and other treats.
Founded in 2007 by former Oakland City Councilwoman Nancy Nadel, they were one of the first local chocolate makers to work directly with cacao farmers. They work exclusively with Jamaican cacao farmers.
