Started in 2017 in their kitchen by chocolate maker/analyst Lan Phan and her engineer husband Brian, 9th & Larkin crafts single origin bean-to-bar chocolate. The bars are very distinctive: big 4″x4″ squares wrapped in paper that looks like an abstract print, but is really created from the impression a cacao pod made rolling over a silk surface.

Available online, at some local markets (we have found them at Market Hall and Hudson Greens & Goods), and at special events. You can also place orders for Saturday pickup at their kitchen.

CBTB tip

Try their signature Vietnamese bar first. It’s fudgy and somewhat savory, with coffee overtones and a nutty aftertaste.
