In fact, we are latecomers: In 2001, it was rated one of the top 10 chocolatiers in the US by <em>Chocolatier Magazine,<\/em> and an ultimate chocolate (the highest rating) by the <em>Rosengarten Report.<\/em> (It even beat out <a href=\"https:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/local-chocolate\/recchiuti-confections\/\">Michael Recchiuti<\/a>, another of our favs.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-88\" title=\"XOXstorefront\" src=\"https:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/XOXstorefront.jpg\" alt=\"Free truffle with your coffee? Mais oui!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The truffles come in many flavors \u2014 including liqueurs, fruits, tea, even peanut butter \u2014 and are adorably hand-crafted, no molds used here. The truffles are a lovely size, not too big, but filling your mouth with a wonderful chocolate flavor that melds with the added flavorings in each truffle.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-89\" title=\"XOXtruffles\" src=\"https:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/XOXtruffles.jpg\" alt=\"Delicious hand-shaped truffles from XOX\" width=\"300\" height=\"237\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-89\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Delicious hand-shaped truffles from XOX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The place is fun to visit for more than the obvious reward of eating truffles. It\u2019s a working chocolate shop with cocoa powder clinging to the white subway tiles on the back wall, and you can practice your French with owner &amp; chef Jean-Marc Gorce.
