{"id":7026,"date":"2015-02-10T10:48:50","date_gmt":"2015-02-10T18:48:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/?p=7026"},"modified":"2024-12-14T14:58:20","modified_gmt":"2024-12-14T22:58:20","slug":"brown-nose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/outsidechocolate\/brown-nose\/","title":{"rendered":"Brown nose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At first I thought this story was a joke, like the <a title=\"Cadbury's smuggling bust\" href=\"https:\/\/waterfordwhispersnews.com\/2015\/01\/27\/two-men-arrested-as-2-5mn-shipment-of-cadburys-chocolate-seized-off-the-us-coast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cadbury\u2019s Dairy Milk smuggling bust story<\/a>, but since it\u2019s from Reuters and has been covered in a lot of mainstream press, I\u2019m going to assume it\u2019s true: A Belgian chocolatier invented and sells a system for snorting chocolate like cocaine.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"The Chocolate Line\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thechocolateline.be\/nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chocolatier Dominique Persoone<\/a> demonstrates his invention:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QK2jhucsqQ8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>For the whole story, you can view an <a title=\"Dominique Persoone interview\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/video\/2015\/feb\/07\/snort-chocolate-dominique-persoone-shooter-belgian-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview with Dominique<\/a> in his beautiful store, The Chocolate Line, in Bruges, Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>I confess, I don\u2019t see the attraction of this device \u2014 no melting in your mouth, no chewing \u2014 it seems too clinical to me. But then I haven\u2019t tried it yet, so maybe it\u2019s an unexplainable experience.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I can\u2019t help thinking about the aftermath of attempting to sniff chocolate powder.
