He just released an updated version of his iPhone app, Paris Pastry Guide, which documents the scene, and you can get it for just $0.99 if you download it before 12 midnight, Sept. 5, 2014 Paris time.

Mentioned in David Lebovitz’s Paris Pastry Guide: Christian Constant’s chocolate ganache tart, which we enjoyed in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris as we decided to start CBTB.

With over 1,000 pastry and chocolate shops in Paris, David doesn’t try to cover every one. Instead, he has included only the ones he thinks are worth your while — which still comes out to well over 300 places all over the city.

Find the best chocolate Paris has to offer

For us chocolate lovers, the app includes 74 chocolate shops that cover the gamut from 152-year-old Ladurée to chocolate artist Patrick Roger and many interesting sites in-between.

There’s also a hot chocolate section highlighting 45 shops and cafés that offer hot chocolate drinks. I was glad to see it includes the wonderful Angelina, which was one of the first places we talked about on the CBTB blog.

David makes it easy to find the good stuff

The app is simple to use and features David’s photos of the shops and their offerings, along with his brief review and recommendations. Each shop also lists its hours and location along with a Google map, so if you’re in town, you can find your way through the muddle of Paris streets.

There are some basic sharing capabilities that didn’t seem especially useful to me. Now, maybe if I was actually in Paris…

There’s a free Lite version that covers David’s top 25 picks, although that means only a few chocolate shops are included. An updated e-book version and a new Android version are coming soon, according to David’s website.

[20,49,13,12
481,478,480,11,479
post-5585","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chocolateroundtheworld","category-chocolate-news","category-outsidechocolate","category-parischocolate","tag-christian-constant","tag-david-lebovitz","tag-laduree","tag-paris","tag-patrick-roger
["GET
