{"id":5396,"date":"2014-07-14T14:53:18","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T21:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/?p=5396"},"modified":"2022-10-20T12:44:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T19:44:50","slug":"things-are-looking-up-in-the-candy-aisle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chocolatebythebay.com\/magazine\/outsidechocolate\/things-are-looking-up-in-the-candy-aisle\/","title":{"rendered":"Things are looking up in the candy aisle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Huffington Post just announced today, July 14, 2014, that Swiss chocolate manufacturer, <a title=\"Huffington Post\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/lindt-russell-stover-chocolate_n_5583542?utm_hp_ref=business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lindt, has bought the Russell Stovers company<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Best known in the States as the maker of Lindor truffles (and IMHO the best commercial-grade chocolate bars when your only choices are what\u2019s on the shelves at Walgreens), <a title=\"Lindt Chocolatiers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lindtusa.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lindt<\/a> doesn\u2019t seem like the type to acquire a company known for <a title=\"Russel Stover\" href=\"https:\/\/www.russellstover.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drugstore boxed chocolates<\/a>, but if the goal is chocolate world domination, then maybe it makes sense.<\/p>\n<p>With this purchase, Lindt moves up to No. 3 chocolate producer in the U.S. after Hersheys and Mars.
